Nurse Ratched is not a cold-blooded villain. She simply does her job. I don't know why she is loathed to such extremes. People didn't know any better back then. Perhaps they still don't but that's the point. Nurse Ratched is an ordinary woman who takes her job seriously and does what she thinks is best for thr patients. The impromptu fishing trip scene borders on the ridiculous. Am I supposed to take such a quick fix seriously?
